Currently, the efforts of the world's leading researchers and universities are focused on getting to know medical marijuana thoroughly for its therapeutic use. Research continues to advance with new studies and clinical trials demonstrating the benefits of medicinal cannabis for improving various medical problems.

Ailments that improve thanks to the benefits of therapeutic cannabis

Among the various ailments whose improvement has been shown thanks to the benefits of  medicinal cannabis include:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer
  • Cancer
  • Fibromyalgia and pain
  • Abstinence syndrome
  • Chronic anxiety
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Crohn's disease and other inflammatory bowel diseases
  • Psoriasis

Nausea and vomiting

Various studies show that the active component of marijuana medicine l known as delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol (D-9-THC) reduces vomiting. Clinical trials have also shown that cannabinoids are effective in counteracting nausea and vomiting caused by radiation therapy.

Neurodegenerative diseases

Some patients with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's or with diseases that can cause metastases such as breast cancer , are increasingly betting on supplementing their medication with the use of therapeutic cannabis.

Experts in the cultivation of medical marijuana , such as Miguel Gimeno, of Marihuana Television , share their knowledge on the subject in conferences and talks. It should be borne in mind that therapeutic cannabis users are affected by some disease, so they also need to know what is the best way to consume cannabis so as not to aggravate their ailments.

Specialists like Gimeno highlight the need to grow the plant in an ecological way, without the use of pesticides. And when consuming it , he agrees with other experts that it is better to do it through vaporization or "vaping" than smoked, since the combustion gives off tar that can be harmful to the patient's condition.

Cancer

The NGO National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML.org), has recently reviewed a series of medical investigations that have shown that marijuana has anti-cancer and anti-tumor properties.

Fibromyalgia and pain

If therapeutic cannabis is popularly known for anything, it is for its analgesic properties. A group of researchers led by Dr. Ian D. Meng of the University of California, San Francisco, has shown in rats that ingesting the compound D-9-THC acts on a brain region, the rostral ventromedial medulla, in which some Neural circuits regulate the sensation of pain, making it more tolerable

This region of the brain has been previously studied, relating to the analgesic effects of morphine. When the marrow is kept in an inactive state, the pain mechanism is free. However, Dr. Meng's team has found that Cannabis D-9-THC modulates the activity of this area in a similar way to morphine.

In the opinion of the scientists who have carried out this study, medicinal Cannabis is likely to become a more effective pain reliever than morphine, and with less aggressive side effects, although this relief would pass by eliminating the harmful effects of marijuana and create a drug that contains only the analgesic properties of D-9-THC.

Abstinence syndrome

Withdrawal syndrome appears when the body enters a phase of withdrawal from the substance to which it is accustomed. Studies that have focused on counteracting this syndrome with some cannabinoid receptors have shown that they are effective in addictions to benzodiazepines, opiates, and alcohol.

Anxiety and ADHD

Some cannabis receptors are present in areas of the brain that control emotional behavior, mood, stress, sleep, or irritability. Various tests in mice have shown that activating these receptors in the brain decrease heart rate and blood pressure in response to stress, and reduce anxiety and panic.

Multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease that progressively degenerates the central nervous system, affecting the brain and spinal cord. Its symptoms include loss of motor control, muscle spasms, weakening of the muscular system and chronic pain, among others.

Studies show that medical marijuana plays an important role in reducing muscle spasms, reducing pain and improving sleep for those affected by this disease, among other benefits of cannabis.

Crohn's disease and other inflammatory bowel diseases

The Crohn's disease is characterized by irregular inflammation that may affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract. Its symptoms include abdominal pain, weight loss, diarrhea, and discomfort. The effects of medicinal cannabis in these types of conditions are anti-inflammatory, analgesic and regulator of intestinal mobility.

Psoriasis

The psoriasis squamous causes skin lesions accompanied by redness, swelling and irritation. It is a chronic, non-contagious inflammatory disease that can run in families. The cause of this disease is a shorter than normal cell renewal cycle, which causes an excessive accumulation of dead cells on the surface of the skin.

There are studies that support that cannabinoids, due to their powerful anti-inflammatory properties, can alleviate the symptoms of psoriasis, by inhibiting the mediators of inflammation, without causing toxicity in the cells.

All these and other benefits of medical cannabis l, scientifically proven, have been generating for more than twenty years a social movement in defense of the regulation for the legal use of these medicinal plants. Their claims go through the decriminalization of their use, both for recreational use and for therapeutic self-consumption
